Let no one despise your youth, but set the believers an example in speech and conduct, in love, in faith, in purity.

1Timothy 4:12

The East Woods Youth Ministry provides a variety of opportunities for middle and high school students to learn and grow in their faith and knowledge of God, build meaningful and lasting relationships with peers and adults, and participate in service projects that transform our community and our world.

Youth Group

Wednesday, 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.

East Woods Presbyterian Youth Group is a great night of building friendships, growing in faith, studying the Bible together, playing games, singing songs, and talking about life in small groups.

This year, the Wednesday night Youth Group will be offered specifically for middle school and high school students, and it will continue to be led by an outstanding and experienced group of Christian adults.

These Youth Group gatherings connect students around conversations related to them, the God of the Bible, and their personal journeys with God. We’ll also have fun games and activities and great worship music.

Wednesday Nights 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.

"Connecting Time"

Sunday Mornings from 9:00 - 9:45 a.m.

East Woods now has a new start time for our Sunday morning worship service – 10:00am. .

The Youth Sunday School previously offered during the second Sunday worship service will now happen during Connecting Time (before Worship, 9:00am-9:45am).

This Youth-oriented Connecting Time is also open to folks from other generations, offering the possibility of positive intergenerational conversations and fun.

Of course, there are also other opportunities for parents and younger siblings during Connecting Time, including hands-on mission work (card making, for example), an adult Bible study, an adult coffee social gathering, and and other activities for children.  Check out the "Happenings" page to find out what is offered this month.

Worship Service

Sunday Morning 10am

We believe that worship services are an important part of growing and maturing as Christian disciples. And, we think middle school and high school students will not only be enriched by this experience but that it will be a blessing to the whole congregational family to have the students participating in East Woods' morning worship service.

"What is Worship?" 2nd & 4th Sundays

On the 2nd and 4th Sundays, youth are invited to participate in a sermon-time discussion designed to help youth make the transition from "Sunday School"  programming to being full participants in the worship experience by reviewing and discussing the different segments of the worship service and what they mean.  Youth will be excused on these Sundays just before the sermon, and spend about 20-30 minutes together.

Helping Those in Need

As youth here at East Woods, we accept our calling to be Disciples of Christ, and enjoy participating in serving our community.  Souper Bowl of Caring is a national event that empowers youth and unites communities around the time of the Big Game to help those in need.

This year (2018), we decided to direct this collection at a longer term solution, rather than providing a single meal.  Daybreak Youth Services is an organization dedicated to helping youth (ages 12-18) with addiction and other mental health issues. Because addiction and mental health issues can be closely tied to long term homelessness and hunger, we feel very strongly we can make a big impact by giving to Daybreak.  Daybreak has an inpatient facility in Brush Prairie, and an outpatient facility in Vancouver.
