Service Opportunities

As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace: whoever speaks, as one who speaks oracles of God; whoever serves, as one who serves by the strength that God supplies—in order that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ.

-1st Peter 4:10-11

Throughout the year East Woods serve those in need within our greater community.

Here are the current opportunities available to you:

Mill Plain Elementary School

MILL PLAIN ELEMENTARY needs our continued support.

The children have an ongoing need for shoes and snacks.

The shoes can be new or gently used.

The snacks can be individually packaged or bulk

(i.e. large bag of pretzels or fish crackers).

The teachers cannot ask students or parents to provide snacks.

A complete list of needs is above the Mill Plain box in

Evergreen Hall.  Please leave donations there.

All donations are greatly appreciated.

If you have any questions please contact

Family Promise is back!

November 10-16

We will be hosting Family Promise guests the week of November 10-16.

A list of activities our volunteers need to do to accommodate and support these families while they stay at our church for the week is available in the Gathering Area several weeks prior to the stay.

As the time draws near we will need to borrow a few items. We are simply beginning a list so we will know who to contact as we borrow things from them.

Do you have any of the following:

  • a high chair,
  • a pack-n-play
  • an infant bathtub
  • an infant swing
  • toys for young children to play with and enjoy

Please notify Peggy Konzek if you can loan us any of these items during that week.

One other way to help before the families comes:

On the Opportunity Counter, you will find the Family Promise signups and Tree-of-Wishes. On the Tree are cards with "wishes" printed on them. These are things we need to be prepared to host our guests. These wishes will be stored and used each time we host families. These wishes are for items needed to get set up, food items for the host week, and more. Please take a card from the tree, fill the wish, and return it to the tub located under the counter.

After the November dates our next week to serve

Family Promise is January 26-February 2.

We hope you are looking forward to serving these families.  Thank you!

Operation Christmas Child

Please have shoe boxes to Church by November 17th

Operation Christmas Child is a ministry of Samaritan's Purse, an international relief organization that works around the world. From Children to Seniors, people pack shoebox gifts each year to bless children across the globe and at home.

There are different ways you can help:

1. Pack a shoebox.

2. Donate items for a shoebox.

3. Donate $9 to ship a shoebox.

Packing a shoebox is easy, and a fun family activity. Choose to pack a box for a boy or girl from 3 different age groups. You can use any average size shoebox or we have some available Sunday mornings.

Shop for items to fill a shoebox. You can find a list of suggested items on the Missions board or online. Please no liquids, toothpaste, or candy.

You can leave a message in the box if you wish, and you should pray over the box. Before closing the lid, place the suggested donation of $9 on top so it's easy to find (Checks can be made out to "Samaritan's Purse").  When closing the box, please use a rubber band (NOT tape) and make sure it is properly labeled with age group and gender.

Thank you for your support of kids around the world this Christmas!
