By God’s grace, we are a congregation . .
Called  to Worship,
Called to Community, and
Called to be Disciples of Christ.

Pastor Bill Sperry's sermons are intelligent, personal, biblically based, and laced with humor. We worship and honor God in a style that is casual, but with respect for  tradition.  We hear the Word in terms that apply to our daily lives, praise God in song, and pray together and for each other.   Our community prayer time is very special as we openly voice our joys and concerns so that we may pray for each other in our worship setting.

A Guide to Our Worship Traditions

Communion Sunday

Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month.  All those who put their trust in Jesus Christ are invited to participate in Communion along with children who have been instructed in the meaning of the Sacrament.

Follow Jesus' Example

Our services should inspire worshipers to follow Jesus’ example by introducing the gospel message to our community and the world through the way we live and serve.  We support the concept of  "Worship + 2" - in addition to  regular participation in worship, we encourage our congregation to be involved in one activity that helps them grow in faith and spiritual maturity and some form of service to the congregation or the community.   Our two Sunday morning services are both a blend of the contemporary and traditional, mixing modern praise and worship music with cherished and time-honored hymns.

Gathering Sundays

On the first Sunday of each month, we celebrate the Lord's Supper during our worship services and have brunch together as a congregation during the Connecting Time in between services.

Everyone visiting on the first Sunday of the month is invited to join us and to enjoy this time of breaking bread together.

Special Services

We offer several styles of worship in varied formats that best bring the Word and seasons to light. These special services include:

During Lent we have Ash Wednesday,  Maundy Thursday, and Good Friday services.

During the summer we have our annual All-Church Baptism Celebration at Fallen Leaf Lake Park in Camas. We also offer Confirmation Sunday and Youth Mission Sunday.

In October, we hold our annual Blessing of our Animal Companions in order to  acknowledge God’s beloved creatures and celebrate the emotional connection we have with our pets.

We participate with the "Churches in Partnership" for a Joint Thanksgiving Eve service

During Advent, we have the children lead us in Lessons and Carols.  We also offer a  Service of Reflection and two Christmas Eve candlelight services.

Once a month we offer our Bluegrass Music Service.

Children and Nursery

Children are cherished and welcome to stay for the whole worship service or attend Children's Sunday School, which begins after the Children's Message during the service. Sunday School classes are offered for Pre-school through 5th grade and nursery care is available for our youngest worshipers.

Each Sunday at the 10:30 a.m. service, East Woods provides loving attention to your infants and toddlers. If you attend the early service your pre-school age children are welcome in the Nursery, also.

Participation in Service

There are many opportunities for participation in worship as greeters, ushers, praise song leaders, and scripture readers.  Stop by our "Happenings" Table or check out the "Happenings" page on this website to see if there is a fit for you.
