CEDEPCA

A way of being ... embodying liberating faith, abundant life, and hope.

About cedepca

CEDEPCA is a Christian non-profit based in Guatemala City, serving Central America's churches.  The goal is to form thoughtful, compassionate disciples of Jesus Christ and offer tools to eradicate violence and injustice, especially violence toward women and children.

Educational programs are offered that transform lives and bring together Christians of many different faiths to deepen and strengthen their ability to confront issue facing their communities.

CEDEPCA focuses on four core ministries:

  • Biblical and theological education
  • Women's Ministry
  • Disaster Ministry
  • Intercultural Encounters

You can find out more about these ministries by visiting the CEDEPCA website or connect with Jackie Tyler, Elder of Missions.

HOW IS EAST WOODS INVOLVED?

East Woods supports CEDEPCA with our time and treasure. Look for any special opportunity announcements on this page and in our weekly bulletin.

  • HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?

Experience Guatemala firsthand through an Intercultural Encounter. CEDEPCA offers periodic virtual Encounters, so you don't even need a passport!

The last opportunity occurred in August and the topic was "Loving Your Migrating Neighbors". We'll post any upcoming events here and on our Events page.

  • HOW CAN I VOLUNTEER - MY TIME & TALENT?

The Intercultural Encounters will return to in-person events in 2023. Participants will be able to experience everyday life in Guatemala and work alongside local communities through immersion experiences and work projects.  Stay tuned to our Missions page for potential opportunities to participate.

  • HOW CAN I DONATE - MY TREASURE?

Financial donations are always welcome to support programs.  These include:

    • General Fund
    • Biblical and Theological Seminary
    • Women's Ministry
    • Disaster Ministry
    • Intercultural Encounters

Most recently, East Woods raised funds to support the Tamar & Jose Project ministry which provides 3-day retreats for youth to learn how to protect themselves from violence and new ways to interact without succumbing to the traditional culture of violence in this country.

Our church raised enough funds to support an entire retreat weekend, plus additional scholarships for youth to attend.

In the past, East Woods has donated to help build many water purification filters for only $50 each.

Contact Jackie Tyler if you have questions or would like to donate toward any of these ministries.
