"When did we see you ... ?"

A Partnership with Mill Plain Elementary School

We're excited to announce a renewed partnership with Mill Plain Elementary. We were inspired by our recent Matthew 25 sermon series … “When did we see you …?”

The partnership includes ongoing opportunities to serve low income and houseless students who attend Mill Plain Elementary School. The Community Resource Center Director will communicate needs and opportunities as they arise and we can participate as we are led to.

Our first opportunities to serve include:  "When did we see you ... hungry?" volunteering at their fresh food pantry days in November and December. "When did we see you ... needing warm clothes?" a winter outerwear clothing drive throughout November. More information is available on our events page.

Coming up next year ... "When did we see you thirsty to learn?" a volunteer for a reading program ... details to be announced soon!  In the meantime, please contact Missions Elder, Kathryn Monroe if you have questions!

Matthew 25 Initiative

We’ve accepted the PCUSA invitation to become a Matthew 25 church!

By doing so we show our understanding that we are “saved to serve” and commit to be actively engaged in the world. Our outreach is a direct response to the good news of Jesus and a faithful expression of what it means to be Christ’s disciples in this time and place.

Jesus calls us to serve with and for “the least of these” — not as a group to be pitied, but as people who are deeply loved by Jesus.

We embrace the focuses of the PCUSA Matthew 25 initiative - find out more here on our Missions page.

EWPC Joins one parish one prisoner

Our OPOP Team is being commissioned during worship on June 2. They will begin to do the work of building a trusting relationship with our incarcerated friend.  Eventually the congregation will be introduced to this friend and join the circle of care in appropriate ways.

Thank you for covering this ministry with prayer!

And because this is a congregational ministry we'd like to invite you to take a survey as we begin. It takes only 5 minutes.

We believe in transformation. Not just for those who've been locked up, but for faith communities as well.

Along with our incarcerated participants, we’re taking a "mugshot" of who our congregation is right now, before we begin One Parish One Prisoner — answering these questions collectively, anonymously.

After our two-year journey, we’ll take the survey again to help reflect on our learning and transformation.

Stay tuned to our Missions page for more information to come.
