About cedepca
CEDEPCA is a Christian non-profit based in Guatemala City, serving Central America's communities and churches. The goal is to form thoughtful, compassionate disciples of Jesus Christ and offer tools to eradicate violence and injustice, especially violence toward women and children.
Educational programs are offered that transform lives and bring together Christians of many different faiths to deepen and strengthen their ability to confront issue facing their communities.
CEDEPCA focuses on four core ministries:
You can find out more about these ministries by visiting the CEDEPCA website or connect with Kathryn Monroe, Elder of Missions.
HOW IS EAST WOODS INVOLVED?
East Woods supports CEDEPCA with our time and treasure. Look for any special opportunity announcements on this page and in our weekly bulletin.
HOW CAN I GET INVOLVED?
Experience Guatemala firsthand through an Intercultural Encounter. CEDEPCA offers periodic virtual Encounters, so you don't even need a passport!
The last opportunity occurred in April and the topic was "Let's Talk About Mission!" We'll post any upcoming events here and on our Events page.
HOW CAN I VOLUNTEER - MY TIME & TALENT?
Join our GO Team for the next trip to Guatemala! Participants experience everyday life in Guatemala and work alongside local communities through immersion experiences and work projects. Stay tuned to our Missions page for potential opportunities to participate.
HOW CAN I DONATE - MY TREASURE?
Financial donations are always welcome to support many CEDEPCA programs and projects. These include:
East Woods, along with St John's Presbyterian Church, raised funds to supply water filters through the Disaster Relief Ministry to multiple rural communities near Xela, Guatemala. Our GO team helped deliver water filters to two of these communities during their February 2024 trip.
East Woods also raised funds to support the Tamar & Jose Project ministry which provides 3-day retreats for youth to learn how to protect themselves from violence and new ways to interact without succumbing to the traditional culture of violence in this country.
Our church raised enough funds to support an entire retreat weekend, plus additional scholarships for youth to attend.
Contact Kathryn Monroe if you have questions or would like to donate toward any of these ministries.
